U11s v Aireborough

Morley U11s V Aireborough U10/11s Rugby Match Report - 16/09/07
First match of the new season saw a visit to the scenic grounds of Nunroyd Park, Yeadon, home of Aireborough, in sunny but windy conditions and the U11s were raring to go, albeit against a combined Aireborough U10/11s side.
Running up the hill in the first half, Morley dictated the pace of the game and had plenty of possession recycling the ball well. So, it wasn't long before the right wing Cameron Wallas went over for the first try, after a good break by hooker Joe Horner. Next it was the turn of the smallest Morley player and scrum-half, Joe Firth, to get on the score-sheet, taking an inside pass from centre Lawrence Earnshaw. Some good forward work by prop Luke Metcalfe followed and he bagged a couple of tries using his weight advantage over the Aireborough defence making it 4-0 to Morley.
Coming up to half time saw two more Morley tries, one from prop William Sadler, who combined nicely with lock forward Benjamin Clay, after his surging break through the Aireborough's defence. The final score of the first half was by fly-half Alex Stevenson linking up with dynamo centre Ryley Wan.
After the restart and the advantage of the downhill slope, Morley were at it again, passing the ball well and this time it was the turn of left wing Sam Hood to score in the corner, assisted by Luke Metcalfe.
Next, came an overlap on the right hand side allowing Cameron Wallas to score his second try, receiving a well timed pass from little Joe Firth. Again Cameron Wallas went down the right wing, but this time judged to be in touch and the try disallowed.
Another try from Sam Hood down the left hand side and a solo effort from hooker Joe Horner, using his signature dummy-pass made it 10-0 to Morley.
But, there was still time for another three scores before the end, the third try for Sam Hood and then the best of the day from burley centre Ryley Wan. From deep in his own half he jinked his way left and right through the Aireborough defence to score. That just left the last try to be scored by Luke Metcalfe with a fine solo effort.
Morley's man of the match was forward Tyler Harrison for an excellent all-round performance on debut.
An excellent win and start to the season, but, no doubt sterner tests lie ahead.
